PERFORMING ARTS                                                 Français  Ideal Society English Version

Every year, numerous theatrical performances, philosophical in style, are presented by IDEAL Society’s students.
Theater is a psychological and educational tool that allows participants to explore numerous disciplines such as singing, dancing, acting, writing and set and costume design. Since 1994, our actors have performed in a number of original plays whose themes have revealed extraordinary depth and creativity on the part of the students, enriching the collective experience at IDEAL Society
We envision the construction of an amphitheatre that will enable us to present our theatrical and musical productions to the public.

"The art of theatre expresses objectively, on a stage, what goes on inside, reflecting our inner life outwardly: our aspirations, our battles, our relations with others, teaching us to know ourselves and to understand the mechanisms and energies which circulate and act within us. This includes the concrete work done by participants on becoming conscious of their thoughts, feelings and actions.

This exploration takes the form of different exercises including:
- becoming conscious of how we walk
- our way of looking at others and how that affects them
- pronunciation exercises
- improvisations on a feeling to be expressed, followed by a discussion in which we try to answer the question: “Has the message been communicated?”
- finally the actor is called upon to come before an audience, either to recite a text, a poem, or to play a part in a play, thereby learning how he influences his audience and his responsibility toward the spectator.

In earlier times, theatre had its own specific place among the arts, fulfilling a role not only of awakening wonder in the audience but also of analyzing and instructing.
The mission of music is to awaken man to the memory of a harmonious life, and the mission of painting is to show us visions of a splendid future. As for theatre, it shows us our present by revealing to us the link between our past and our future: this is the science of gestures and behaviours.

Theatre teaches us the art of living in the present so as to become conscious of ourselves, thus becoming the creators of our own future."
