THE MUSIC :
Gilles Hainault, Music director of IDEAL Society, composed most of the music pieces recorded on these CDs. He also harmonized and arranged the melodies and themes by Peter Deunov. Gilles Hainault is a composer, pianist and choral director. He has created and directed many choirs and given countless seminars and workshops in choral singing. Gilles’ interest lies in Russian culture and orthodox music, which inspired him to turn poetry and prayers into music through compositions that combine traditional and modern religious themes and evoke a feeling of peaceful serenity.
Peter Deunov (1864-1944), was a Bulgarian mystic, composer and an accomplished violinist who created hundreds of melodies and songs that became spiritual exercises in the school he founded at the turn of the 20th century. These simple but beautiful melodies were inspired from traditional Bulgarian folklore or sacred themes from very ancient traditions. Peter Deunov’s unique musical style directs the singer, the musician or the listener toward a spiritual world.
THE CHOIR :
The ‘Vera Choir’ is composed of singers from various nationalities and ages who are part of the community, including professional singers as well as amateurs. This creates a stimulating and challenging environment and a context for developing self-discipline and tolerance! The Vera Choir was born 10 years ago and now groups about 50 members.
The ‘Vera Instrumental Ensemble’ is composed of professional musicians who have come together to bring to life this unique musical project.
