ChevauxThe I.D.E.A.L. Society is proud to offer an intensive music program where students will improve their skills. Private lessons in violin, cello, flute, clarinet, classical guitar, chamber music & orchestra, ear training, theory, rhythm and movement and postural classes, will all be part of the curriculum.

Created in November 1993, I.D.E.A.L. Society has brought together parents, teachers, musicians, artists and professionals from various fields.

Summer School of Music : Program

The Curriculum

ChevauxWe will offer private lessons in violin, cello, flute, clarinet, classical guitar. Each student will work at his/her level and pace with one of our experienced faculty on the technical and  musical sides of the instrument. We will also offer Chamber music and orchestra, ear training, theory, rhythm class. The Movement and Postural Education classes will enhance and facilitate all aspects of the student’s playing.

 

There will be the following extracurricular offerings :

 

• Some afternoons, students will be able to enjoy pottery making, silk painting, and after a good day, go to the creek and delight in a nice cool bath.

 

• Evenings, Community Choir, Master Class and Faculty concert. Thursday evening will be a camp fire picnic where community, students and faculty members will relax and share laughter in IDEAL’s natural setting.

 

• On Sunday, July 17, the last afternoon of this music intensive, the students will play a concert at the Jaffray Community Hall.

 

The Setting :

I.D.E.A.L., The Institute for the Development of Education, Arts and Leisure, is a bi-lingual intentional community of about 65 permanent residents founded in 1993.

 

I.D.E.A.L. is on the outskirts of the quiet village of Jaffray, BC, in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, with rolling hills, organic garden, fresh eggs, woodland trails, two creeks and a swimming hole.

 

Accomodation & Meals :

I.D.E.A.L. serves vegetarian meals for an additional fee. If you have special food needs, please bring your own food. Accomodations in the area is limited, so book early. Local campgrounds, cabins, B&Bs are available.

Early registration is encouraged. Space is limited. Registration forms and fees must be received by June 15th, 2011. (There will be a discount for early registration, before May 1st, 2011).

NOTES :

1. The Program reserves the right to decline applications where no appropriate class can be offered, or there are an insufficient number of applicants.

2. In case of students's withdrawal, Program Fee (less an administration fee of $50.00) will be refunded only when another student from the waiting list can be accommodated, or in extraordinary cases.
