We are a community of about 70 members of all ages. All learning activities are organized
on an on-going basis. In most activities beginners and more experienced participants
join together to stimulate the process of group interaction in an environment where all
the voices are heard. Most of the day’s activities are planned and shared collectively,
with respect to each individual’s aptitudes and the search for a balance between
our inner/outer selves. Community life includes sharing garden, kitchen
and homecare duties with friends and housemates, in the belief
that all forms of activities, even the simplest, can offer
an opportunity for education.
At IDEAL Society the educational activities are incorporated
into a collective living experience which is usedas a site of
apprenticeship and a tool for learning. Visitors and participants as well as the
permanent members of the community are invited to take part in all the activities;
students are of all ages. The educational is based on the three-fold structure of the
human being, the intellect, the heart and will, and on their different and system needs
functions. In response to this, our goal is to create activities and exercises to feed these
different sides of our being : our mental, emotional and physical bodies.

The language of harmony which is also that of the heart and emotions is explored through music and dance for example, and more specifically through choral singing.
Other activities include lectures, seminars, nature based workshops as well as the arts.
Since transformation starts from within (through insight) and manifests through social interaction, the methods we use are applied to everyday situations. With this approach, the power of education lies on an essential factor: example, meaning that a good pedagogue manifests in his behaviour the qualities he wants to instil in others.
In response to the influx of visitors and families, IDEAL Society hosts several music and arts programs for
children of the community.
